*EXTREMELY RARE REMINGTON MODEL 720 NAVY TROPHY BOLT ACTION RIFLE WITH ORIG BOX AND PAPERS. SN 42392. Cal. 30-06. 22″ rnd bbl, banded ramp front sight w/fine bead, sporting rear sight w/set screw and elevator. Bbl is marked, “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC. REMINGTON/ILION WORKS, ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A.” Caliber designation is on left side of chamber. The Enfield style action is marked on left front “REMINGTON/REG.U.S.PAT.OFF.”, left side, “MODEL-720/42392”. Mounted in some nicely figured walnut w/checkered forend, checkered grip cap and “FJA” inspector’s mark and cross cannon government inspector’s mark in center of left side. Approximately 1,000 of these guns were purchased by the Department of the Navy for inter-service competition. Accompanying the gun is its orig box incl orig sling and pamphlet w/wax paper and a green cosmoline bag. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine. Gun appears absolutely new. there are a couple light handling marks on top comb of stock. The blue is near 100% as is the wood finish. Sharp, crisp, clear inspector’s marks. Mechanics are crisp and bore appears to have light coat of rust preventative still in it. Likewise, box is in excellent condition w/intact and legible end label.
