ENGRAVED COPY OF A No. 3 SMITH & WESSON 3RD MODEL RUSSIAN SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. SN 778. Cal. 44 Russian. Nickel finish with 7″ keyhole shaped bbl, pinned steel half moon front sight with top rib marked “SPRING HEAD V.K. NEW-YORK” with brackets. Mounted with wonderful checkered 2-pc ivory grips with a raised carved Chevalier on right side. Revolver is engraved with about 75% coverage on frame foliate arabesque patterns which extend over sides of bbl & bbl lug & top strap. Back strap & trigger guard are engraved to match. Cyl has matching engraving on lands between the flutes with a simple border outline around the flutes. Butt is fitted with a tiny lanyard swivel in butt strap. PROVENANCE: David Crocker Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Frame & cyl retain most of their strong orig nickel finish and hammer faded case colors. Bbl & trigger guard are mostly bright metal, almost undetectable from the nickel. Grips are extremely fine showing little or no wear and retain a light ivory patina.
