SHARPS BORCHARDT SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 40-70 Sharps Straight. SN 17921. Standard sporting rifle with 28″ oct bbl, windage adjustable Lyman 17A globe front sight, an “1876” dated Sharps ladder rear sight and a reproduction Sharps vernier tang sight. The top flat of the bbl is marked with the maker’s name & address and “OLD RELIABLE”. The bore has been relined and is brilliant shiny. The left side of the bbl has the orig caliber marking “40 2-1/2”. It has the usual markings on the left side of the receiver. It has uncheckered wood with semi-schnable tipped forearm and straight stock with coarse checkered Sharps steel buttplate. Accompanied by box of tools including a Lyman bullet mold and RCBS handles, paper for patching bullets, an RCBS sizing die, two 50-rnd boxes of reloadable brass made from 405 Winchester and an RCBS cartridge block. Also included is a sizing die and de-capping pin, along with a loading formula for the 330-grain bullet that Mr. Jackson states is a fine shooter. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl & receiver retain a mottled blue/brown patina with some spots of light rust. Stock has a couple of hairlines at the receiver and a spliced repair in the forearm, otherwise is sound with small nicks & scratches and a couple of gouges in the buttstock. Mechanics are fine.
