PATENT MODEL: CHIMNEY DAMPER BY J.F. STAFFORD. Original patent tag #71,077, dated Nov. 19, 1867. Wooden brick-painted chimney with ratchet handled gear, which attaches to damper via string (unattached). Small cardboard plaque attached to top of chimney indicating inventor’s name. Model is also stenciled “J.F. Stafford” on side. SIZE: 12-1/4″ t. x 5-1/4″ w. x 3-1/4″ d. CONDITION: Some molding around base of chimney has become unattached, and there is a small gouge toward the top of the chimney. 1-1337 (600-900)
