24 PC AUSTRIAN BREAKFAST SET. Wonderful Austrian breakfast set has marquetry floral design against clear glass background. Red and purple marquetry flowers are supported by green marquetry leaves and stems and each piece is beautifully engraved with various insects. Each of the marquetry flowers is also lightly engraved outlining petals and veining. Each piece is finished with heavily enameled rope design with falling leaves all done in gold gilding. Set consists of nine underplates, eight bowls and seven footed teacups. Pieces carry a spurious Galle signature. SIZE: Underplates are 6″ dia. Bowls are 4-3/4″ dia x 2-3/4″ t. Teacups are 3-1/2″ t. PROVENANCE: From the Private Collection of Dorothy Lee Jones. CONDITION: Overall very good to excellent with three underplates having minor fleabites and/or chipping, two of the bowls have minor fleabites to the rim. 5-61819 (1,000-1,500)
