SCARCE FULL NICKEL DELUXE MARLIN MODEL 1889 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 32 WCF (32-20). SN 87628. Unusual deluxe Marlin with 24” oct bbl, full magazine, dovetail German silver front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight that has been filed flat and a Lyman loop tang sight. Mounted with highly figured, flame grain, center cut, B-checkered American walnut with serpentine grip and crescent buttplate. This rifle is one of 55,119 built in period 1899-1903. Few have special order features and plated items are doubly rare. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle as caliber 32 with 24” oct bbl & pistol grip stock shipped April 28, 1893. CONDITION: Very fine. Overall retains about 95% strong, orig nickel finish with some fine freckling on bbl & receiver. Buttplate retains about 75% orig nickel. There is a series of small scratches on left side of grip in the checkering with the forearm showing moderate to heavy wear and overall the wood is sound with what appears to be, an old restored finish.
