ALLEN & WHEELOCK DROP BLOCK SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal 38 RF. SN 15. Early sporting rifle with 25-3/4” oct to rnd bbl, altered front sight blade and semi-buckhorn rear sight, missing the elevator. The top tang is mounted with a folding, variable aperture, lollipop tang sight. It has nicely figured wood with uncheckered straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. It has factory sling swivels. CONDITION: No original finish remains. The bbl is a mottled silver brown patina with light surface pitting. The receiver retains about 70% silvered case colors with the balance a brown patina. The buttstock has repair through the wrist and the wood retains most of an old refinish. The bore is bright with strong rifling and moderate pitting. 4-50549 JR86 (1,000-2,000)
