RARE FACTORY ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1 SECOND ISSUE SPUR TRIGGER REVOLVER. SN 47141. Cal. 22 Short. Silver & blue finish with 3-1/4″ oct bbl with integral rib and German silver front sight with rear sight in the cylinder latch. It has a sheath trigger with square butt and fine 2-pc smooth pearl grips. Revolver is beautifully engraved, probably by Gustave Young, with full coverage intertwined foliate arabesque patterns on sides of frame, sides of bbl lug and side flats of bbl. Top of rib is engraved in a beautiful flower blossom with dash & dot border patterns. Top of back strap is engraved in an elaborate hunter star with geometric patterns at the heel & on butt strap. Back strap & butt strap and rear edge of frame are engraved in a fine dash & dot border pattern with dot patterns around rear edge of frame. Cyl is engraved around its entire circumference with foliate arabesque patterns and dash & dot borders. The assembly number “A4″ was observed on right heel under grip, on rear face of bbl lug and front face of cyl. CONDITION: Fine, all matching including bbl, cyl & grips. Bbl retains a cleaned gray metal patina with plummy/blue on bottom flat with some light scattered fine pitting. Frame & grip frame retain virtually all of their orig lightly oxidized silver finish with slight wear on heel & toe and tips of trigger sheath. Cyl is a dark plummy patina. Left grip has a chipped toe & heel, otherwise grips are sound showing light edge wear and retain great fire & color. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with a small ring about 1” from forcing cone. 4-39891 JR157 (2,000-3,000)
