*WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 SINGLE SHOT LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal 22 WRF. SN 96715. Hi-wall action that has been modified to lo-wall configuration by having scallops cut from the rear edges of the receiver. 26” oct to rnd bbl, #3 weight with replacement Sheard front sight, a slot blank in the rear dovetail and a Lyman tang sight. Single set trigger and uncheckered wood with black insert, schnable tip forearm and straight stock with nickeled brass Swiss buttplate. Forearm has a small mother of pearl button on the bottom, apparently filling a hole from a palm rest. CONDITION: Bbl retains 60-70% strong original blue with the bottom of the round area cleaned to bright. Receiver retains 80-85% thinning original blue. Stock has a couple of hairlines in back of the top tang, otherwise the wood is sound. Forearm retains 30-40% varnish. Buttstock 60-70% original varnish. Buttplate retains traces of nickel finish in the sheltered area, otherwise is a mellowed patina. Strong bright bore with light pitting in the grooves. Good mechanics. 4-50471 JR395 (750-1,250)
