LINCOLN CHINA REPRODUCTION PLATE. Very interesting china plate is a copy of the original Lincoln china with the American eagle seal in the center and purple and gold border on the rim. On the back of the plate in red lettering “Administration Abraham Lincoln”. These reproduction plates were issued by the manufacturer to the public as early as 1876 and were not meant to deceive but rather issued as a chance for the American public to own a piece of China similar to that of Abraham Lincoln’s. SIZE: 8-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: A gift to the Maine State Museum being sold to benefit the museum’s acquisition fund. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 5-61585 (50-100)
