COMPOSITE 1874 SHARPS RIFLE. Cal. 45-120. SN CL976. Fine hunting rifle, 30” heavy oct bbl, 1” across the flats, unmarked with a Winchester style globe front sight, Springfield musket rear sight and a Remington mid-range tang sight. It has an uncheckered semi-schnable forearm, secured with two screws, one through an iron escutcheon, the other a brass escutcheon. It has a checkered trigger with a highly figured French walnut, Remington style, checkered, bag shaped grip, cheek piece stock with smooth steel buttplate. The only bbl marking is the cal., which is over the chamber area behind the rear sight. CONDITION: Very good, as noted. Bbl retains an even medium plum/brown patina with traces of blue in the sheltered areas. Receiver & lockplate are a medium gray patina. Forearm is sound with traces of original varnish and a minor ding or two. Buttstock is sound and retains most of its fine custom finish with minor handling and use marks and a sling swivel hole on the bottom. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore and with scattered light pitting. 4-51524 JR803 (5,000-7,000)
