COLLECTION OF CHINESE EXPORT AND 19TH CENTURY TEA WARES. Mid 18th thru early 19th Century. Including a pair of armorial shallow bowls, the rims decorated with floral sprays and a banner with the Latin inscription “VERTUE LAURETH“, a delicate tea bowl and saucer enameled and gilt decorated for the European trade within reserves of Oriental landscapes and pink, believed to be Yung Cheng reign. A similarly decorated bowl of the period depicting a mother and father with child. Two shaped saucers decorated in underglaze-blue, one accompanied by matching cup. Each decorated with a butterfly and applied with floral stems. The third saucer applied with vinery centering a domestic scene with children. Two tea bowls with matching saucers,both in underglaze-blue. One of flowering shrubs, the other decorated with a fence beneath tree. SIZE: 2-3/4″ dia. (export cup); 4-1/2″ dia. (saucer); 5-1/2″ dia. (export bowl); 6-1/2” (shallow bowls). PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Overall very good with minimal and minor flecks and with minimal wear to gilding. Butterfly saucer with larger chip at one end. The pair of shallow bowls with crack to one and with normal wear to gilding, overall good. 9-23303 (500-700)
