*SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1917 DA MILITARY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 ACP. SN 53418. Blue finish with 51/2″ bbl, integral half moon front sight with 2-pc smooth walnut grips and a lanyard loop in the butt. The bottom of the bbl is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY”. It has the Ordnance Corps. flaming bomb on the top left side of the frame and usual markings on the butt strap. It is accompanied by a 1917 dated military holster that has the WWI dog tag of 1st LT. J. C. Morris of the 345th Infantry. Consignor states he purchased this revolver directly from Lt. Morris. CONDITION: Revolver is extremely fine. All matching including the grips which has the penciled serial number in the right side. Retains about 98% strong bright orig blue with very minor edge wear and a spot of flaking on the left forward side of the frame and in the radius behind the trigger guard with a few small spots on the side plate. Grips are sound with a few battered spots on the left side and a gouge on the right side and retain most of their strong orig varnish. Mechanics are crisp. Bright shiny bore with some very minor pitting in the grooves. The holster is dried and flexed with much crackled surface with loss of finish.
