*RARE SWISS MODEL 31/55 SNIPER RIFLE WITH MATCHING NUMBERED SCOPE. SN 4558. Cal. 7.5 Swiss. Rare straight pull sniper rifle with 29″ bbl including a perforated corncob muzzle brake. It has a shielded front sight with bayonet lug & 1,500 meter rear sight. Top of receiver has Geneva cross & shield Swiss Crest. Left side of receiver has an integral set of bases & has the accompanying matching numbered scope marked “KERN AARAU / V-3.5 / *=75%” with adjustable rear objective. It has integral rail & body with a spring loaded, return-to-zero, claw attachment. Mounted in a 1-pc birch stock with coarse checkered pistol grip & smooth steel buttplate with side mounted sling. It utilizes a detachable box magazine, also matching numbered & has a permanently mounted folding bi-pod. Accompanied by its orig gray painted, matching numbered metal scope can with screwdriver. Also accompanying is a nearly complete armorer’s kit, for straight pull rifles including sights, springs, a bolt handle & body, numerous screws, a trigger & other small parts, all in their orig canvas roll pouch & small parts leather pouch with drawstring top. Few of these rare sniper rifles have been imported into the United States. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine, all numbered parts are matching including scope, can & magazine. Overall retains about 98-99% strong orig factory finish with light thinning on exposed part of bbl, probably occurred during shipment. Wood is sound with minor rubs from bi-pod & retains virtually all of its orig factory finish. Scope is crisp with crisp optics. Can is fine, tools & parts are fine. 4-36172 JR261 (4,500-6,000)
