MEACHAM CONVERSION SHARPS RIFLE. Cal. 45 2-7/8”, (45-110). SN C44741. Typical Meacham Conversion with 30” heavy oct bbl, 1-1/8” across the flats, homemade front sight blade in the original base, Lawrence marked 900 yd. ladder rear sight, “Old Reliable” and Bridgeport address bbl markings. The caliber is marked over the chamber. The forearm is secured with two screws in typical Meacham style, smooth with a slight Schnable tip and has the top rear edges removed to accommodate the extra heavy bbl. The receiver & buttstock were apparently from an original carbine as the sling bar has been removed and the hole in the receiver plugged and the slot in the wrist also plugged. The stock has typical Meacham checkering and it is fitted with DBL set triggers, retains the original steel carbine buttplate. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl retains about 30-40% plum blue with the balance a mottled silver/brown patina with light surface rust and a wrench mark about mid-point. Receiver retains traces of silvered case colors with the balance mottled brown patina. Lockplate retains 75-80% case colors, brilliant in the sheltered areas, faded elsewhere. Forearm has a repaired crack by the right bbl channel and the stock a repaired crack in the right wrist, otherwise the wood retains most of an old refinish. Strong bright bore with scattered light pitting. 4-51564 JR772 (5,000-8,000)
