EARLY AMERICAN MINIATURE PROFILE HALF-PORTRAIT OF THE REVEREND JAMES H. JOHNSTON (Pastor 1835-1839). The oval painting depicting a gentleman in profile wearing a black coat with high collar in a conforming molded gilt inner frame. The whole mounted in a gilt molded frame of the period. Affixed on the back is an old paper label naming the subject and “Presented by Miss Mary Grier.” SIZE: 2-1/2” x 2” portrait sight size, 7” x 6-1/2” frame size. CONDITION: Very nice original condition, nice patina, losses to gilding on frame edge within parameters. 7-74915 SM (500-1,000)
