SET OF FOUR J. & J.W. MEEKS “STANTON HALL” LAMINATED ROSEWOOD SIDE CHAIRS. Circa 1860. Each laminated back with arched crest centering a floral cartouche and pierced leafage, the overupholstered seat with serpentine front rail with ‘S’ scrolled moldings and central cartouche, raised on molded cabriole legs, terminating in casters. SIZE: Each 40″ h. of back x 19-1/4″ overall w. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Good original cleaned surfaces, minor professional repairs to veneers on back. One chair with repair to hip rest at seat frame, one with darkened crest area. Two chairs now upholstered in striped silk gold-on-gold brocade, two now with striped fabric in gold, maroon, and jade green. 9-93376 (5,000-8,000)
