SOUTHEAST ASIAN ESCAPE & EVASION KIT. SN 195. Rubber box, 4″ x 2-7/8″ x 1″, that was issued to covert operators and behind the lines personnel during Southeast Asia operations for use to aid in their escape from enemy territory. The kit contains two small gold rings that weigh 5 dwt each (7.78 grams) of what appears to be, pure gold, four links of heavy gold chain, also appears to be pure gold, that weighs 9 dwt (14.1 grams) and a small heart shaped gold medallion with loop that weighs 2 dwt (3.11 grams). It also contains a Swiss made Millus self-winding wristwatch with the nylon band rolled up in another compartment. A very rare & seldom encountered item from the Cold War period. This item was purchased in 1980 from Defense Salvage by Morton Ostow of New York City at a cost of $737.00 and is accompanied by a copy of the orig invoice. CONDITION: Obviously opened but completely intact. Gold is still bright & clean and the watch still wrapped in its cellophane wrapper. 4-53654 JR499 (1,250-1,750)
