*RARE bcd/4 MAUSER SNIPER RIFLE WITH LONG RAIL MOUNT & SCOPE. SN 8233u. Cal. 8X57 mm. Fine K98 sniper with 24″ tapered rnd bbl, barleycorn front sight with hood & 2,000 meter rear sight. Receiver ring is marked with “bcd” code (Gustloff-Werke)along with eagle “37) Waffenampt, Nazi eagles & a number “1”. Side rail has an eagle “359” Waffenampt & right side of buttstock a Nazi eagle & a large “H”. Stock has a checkered sheet metal buttplate. Accompanying scope mount has serial number “8092u” with a Nazi eagle on left side with scope having “dow” code & is a 1-8X adjustable with serial number “19974”. Trigger guard is fitted with a rare sheet metal winter cover. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new, all numbered parts are matching. Overall retains 98-99% strong orig factory blue with a couple of minor nicks here & there with light wear on bolt body & some slight thinning on shank of bolt handle. Stock is missing a sliver from laminate on right side of toe, otherwise wood is sound & retains most of its orig bright factory finish with some light oil staining. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore, probably unfired. Scope mount & rings are also crisp retaining most of their orig factory blue. Scope retains about 90% orig blue, slightly thinned with some light surface etching. Optics are slightly spotted but clear.
