GALLE FAIENCE CLOCK. Exceptional pottery clock is decorated in blue and white with a reclining lion, a shield, a knight’s helmet resting against a castle tower and a palm tree. Clock is from the shop of Charles Galle, the father of famed cameo glass artist Emile Galle. Charles Galle was noted for decorated porcelains and this is without a doubt a premier example of his product. Signed on backside “CG 27”. We were told that this clock is 1 of only 2 known. The other of which is in the Luvre. The clock came to us just as the catalogue was going to print, we did not have time to research that fact. SIZE: 19-1/4″ t x 16″ w. CONDITION: Small roughness to corner of shield, otherwise very good to excellent. 5-70216 (10,000-12,000)
