CUSTOM DELUXE ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 50 EX (50-110). SN 61238. Spectacular custom restored deluxe ’86 with 26” replacement oct bbl, full magazine, brass bead front sight and a marbles semi-buckhorn rear sight. Mounted with extremely beautiful, “F” carved & checkered flame grain, American walnut with black wedge insert, serpentine, pistol grip stock & crescent buttplate. Receiver is beautifully engraved with a flat gold moose on left side and a standing bull buffalo on right side with gold wire border around the vignettes. Both vignettes have beautifully detailed background. Both sides of lever & hammer have gold wire inlay with a wide gold band at muzzle and receiver ends of the bbl. The receiver, forend cap, lever, hammer & buttplate have spectacular, brilliant, Turnbull style, bone charcoal case colors. It also has a sgl set trigger. Consignor states that this was, in fact, Doug Turnbull’s personal rifle that he used on several hunts. A photograph of Doug & his guide with this rifle and a recently harvested buffalo accompany this rifle. CONDITION: Very fine. Restored finish is spectacular with brilliant blue & case colors and a wonderful bright finish on wood. Wood has a few, very minor, scratches in the finish.
