RARE, FINE HARPERS FERRY MODEL 1805 FLINTLOCK MARTIAL PISTOL. SN 1820. 58 Cal. 10-1/8” rnd bbl. Marked “HARPERS / FERRY / 1808” vertically at the rear of the lockplate. A large US eagle over “US” is on the lockplate in front of the hammer. ‘US” and “P” sunken cartouches are at the rear of the bbl in front of the serial number. The left flat of the stock has a script “V” above a script “JS”. Only 1,208 of these pistols were made in 1808. The serial number reflects the number of the pair made since the beginning of the contract in 1805. The lockplate is marked “WV” inside. There are no assembly initials on any of the parts, but the pan appears to be orig and there is no sign of welding on the bbl. CONDITION: Smooth gray patina with scattered light pitting on the bbl and lock. Brass has minor nicks and dents, but is generally fine. Wood has sharp edges with minor nicks and dents and retains most of its orig finish. 4-60229 FS730 (14,000-18,000)
