24″ CLOCKWORK NODDING FATHER CHRISTMAS. A marvelous example of a circa 1910-1920 papier mache Santa with a clockwork mechanism (original key included) contained within his chest. Mechanism appears to be functional but head/rod in need of minor adjustments. Frocked in red felt with various trims, Father Christmas is holding a tree with candles in his right hand, a basket with presents, and nodding approval of delivery for good little boys and girls. Santa is standing upon a wooden base covered in mica with an original Germany paper label on underside. SIZE: 24″ tall.
