SPANISH COLONIAL STRONG BOX. Fine early strong box made of hand forged iron, 20-1/4” long 12-1/2” wide and 13-1/2” tall, made of riveted strap iron on the lid and sides with large iron carrying rings at each end and padlock hasps on the front. The top and the front also have a large key way and include a very large key. Also included is what appears to be a locking bar of hand forged iron which is 18-1/4” long, diamond shaped 1/2” across the flats with a twist in the middle and heart shaped attachment to one end upon which is cast “MAT/T6/21”. Accompanied by a decorative oak stand made for this case. CONDITION: Appears to be fine, unable to be opened. No telling what is inside, it is rather heavy, perhaps some of the governors gold remains locked inside!!! The stand is fine. 4-48726 JR730 (3,500-5,000)
