GROUP OF 4 STILL BANKS, INCLUDING GERMAN EXAMPLE. Late 19th/early 20th century. Including cast-iron “State Bank” example; a seated waving bear with silvered finish; a cylindrical example with plaque engraved “BETHEL SAVINGS BANK / BETHEL, MAINE. 112” with graded and numbered slots for cents, nickels, dimes, quarters and halves, each calibrated with dollar amounts; and an enameled steel oval example of German origin, surmounted by an oval plaque stamped with a standing bear within castle and shield, the serial number 46332, and engraved name “Sparkaffe (Sparkasse) der Stadt Berlin”. SIZE: Largest: 6″ h. PROVENANCE: From an East Sangerville, Maine private collection. CONDITION: First and second examples with old surfaces, each retaining key.
