WWII JAPANESE POLICE SWORD GIVEN TO THE LATE ACTOR LEE MARVIN BY THE FAMOUS JAPANESE ACTOR TOSHIRO MIFUNE. SN NSN. Standard police sword with 29-1/2″ slightly curved narrow blade with dbl fullers, white fish skin handle with gold wire wrap, D-guard knuckle bow and hand guard with chrysanthemum decorations. Back of handle & pommel cap are also decorated with raised chrysanthemums. Accompanied by its orig black leather covered scabbard with gold washed hangers & drag that have raised chrysanthemum decorations. Knuckle bow is mounted with a gold & silver with red piping sword knot. Mrs. Marvin states that this sword was gifted to Lee Marvin by the famous Japanese actor, Toshiro Mifune (star in Shogun) after their collaboration in the TV Series Shogun and just before their 1968 movie Hell in the Pacific. Accompanied by affidavit from Mrs. Lee Marvin stating that this pistol was Lee Marvin’s. PROVENANCE: The late actor Lee Marvin. CONDITION: Very fine. Blade is clean & bright with the handguard & back strap and all the scabbard fittings retaining most of their orig gold wash, slightly thinned on the handguard & handle.
