J. HARDING PERCUSSION TARGET RIFLE. Cal. About 46. Medium weight target or hunting rifle with 32” oct to rnd bbl, small globe front sight and fixed rear sight. The left flat is marked with the maker’s name and “Lowell, Mass.” It is mounted in a walnut half stock with German silver furniture including a decorative forend cap, Schutzen style trigger guard with dbl set triggers, a simple 2-pc round patchbox in the right side of the buttstock and a crescent buttplate with faceted tang and long toe plate. CONDITION: About good. Bbl retains 30-40% blue turning plum, mostly over the forearm area with the balance a dark crusty brown patina. Stock is missing a sliver off the forestock and the checkered wrist is worn. Highly figured buttstock retaining most of its bright varnish. Replacement ramrod.
