GERMAN PORCELAIN PLAQUE. Very special porcelain plaque depicts a young woman in a simple blue gown with red shawl standing next to a birdcage and holding a branch with numerous canaries perched on the branch and in the birdcage. The plaque is finished with gold gilt jewelry adorning the woman’s neck and arm and gold gilt polka dots on the shawl. The gilt decoration is done on top of the glaze leaving a wonderful three-dimensional effect. Marked on the back with red ink stamp “Made in Germany” and “56” as well as titled in blue. SIZE: Plaque is 4-1/8″ x 6-1/4″. Overall 11″ x 13″. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with some minor wear and discoloration to frame. 5-60570 (1,500-2,000)
