*ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 12 PIGEON GRADE PUMP SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. Fine engraved Model 12 with 30” solid rib full choke barrel, nicely figured diamond checkered large forearm, and highly figured pistol grip stock with high comb and Winchester solid red rubber recoil pad. The bottom of the magazine tube boss is engraved with a pigeon. The sides of the receiver are engraved in modified 12-5 pattern. The left side is precisely 12-5, while the right side has only three ducks instead of the usual four. This engraving does not appear original to this shotgun, as it is still raised and sharp. The rib and top of the receiver are inlaid with a gold “2”. The Winchester proof is large and lightly struck. The bolt and carrier are jeweled. The serial number on the receiver, part of the serial number on the magazine tube take down ring, and the word “TRAP” on the receiver appear spurious and hand stamped. The engraved pigeon also appears spurious. Accompanied by an original Winchester 2-piece box with blue and white end label overstamped “SPECIAL” and “SELECT WOOD”. Also, hand written in what appears to be ballpoint pen is additional information ostensibly identifying this shotgun. These hand written markings appear spurious. This shotgun is one of a consecutive numbered pair in this auction. Ser. 987147. CONDITION: Fine, retains most of its custom finish, being a brown color over the chamber area of the barrel. The wood is sound and retains most of its fine custom finish. Bright shiny bore. The box is fine with fuzzed corners and one blown corner. 4-47892 JR743 (1,500-2,500)
