*RARE MARTZ BABY AMERICAN EAGLE LUGER WITH HOLSTER & STAND. SN 45820. Cal. 30 Luger. Spectacular Martz Baby Luger altered from a 1906 American Eagle Luger. It has 3″ tapered rnd bbl, dovetailed pedestal mounted front sight and fixed rear sight at rear of toggle. Chamber is marked with the American eagle and the toggle link “DWM”. Left side rail, under sideplate, is stamped “JVM” in an oval, “59” in an oval and “-4” in an oval along with the tiny initials “GM”. In addition to shortening the bbl, Mr. Martz also shortened the grip frame and grips with the grips being about 3-3/4″ long. Of course he also shortened the magazine commensurately and relocated its unmarked wood base. Accompanied by a wonderful display stand built especially by Mr. Martz from very nicely figured California Claro walnut & aluminum with 6-3/8″ diameter rnd base by 2″ high with a dummy solid aluminum magazine mounted in the center of the top. The top swivels to the side to expose cleverly recessed compartments for the magazine, take down tool and seven dummy rds that are permanently mounted in the case. Top of the base, under the lid, is hand stamped “J.V. MARTZ”. There is a small tag under the magazine that is marked on both sides “1906 EAGLE BABY BLUE” and on the other side is inscribed in pen “Dolan / 3-16-79”. Also accompanied by a Gale C. Morgan marked brown leather Luger hard shell flap holster with tab & buckle closure. It has an orig style magazine pocket on front edge containing a second orig Martz short magazine for this pistol. It also has the small tool pocket inside lid containing an additional Luger tool. Flap of tool pocket is stamped “GCM”. Outside flap is stamped with a small American eagle in a circle. Back of holster has two belt loops identical to an original and is marked with a large “59”, a small “4”, “GALE C. MORGAN” and a crown over “M”. Front of holster has the leather lifting thong like an orig holster and the closure tab is marked with the crown over “M” like the back. This is a most unique set and the first Baby Luger holster ever examined by this cataloger. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus, all matching except bbl, grips & magazines, which are unnumbered. Retains virtually all of its fine custom Martz finish with strong rust blue and straw colors. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. Stand, holster & accessories are equally new. 4-39771 JR294 (5,000-8,000)
