TWO FINE SWATOW TYPE CHARGERS. Late 18th-early 19th century. Unmarked. Each with blue and white decoration, the first depicting a heron flying amongst cloud bands above a landscape within a seaweed band border, the rim scalloped. The second example depicting two deer beside a brook and single tree in a moonlit landscape within a wide cross-hatched decorated border, the rim scalloped. Probably made for the domestic market. SIZE: FIRST: 18-1/2″ dia. x 2-1/2″ h. SECOND: 17-1/2″ dia. x 2-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine Beacon Hill and Thomaston estate. CONDITION: Both in very fine condition.
