FINE CONTINENTAL MARQUETRY BENCHMADE WALNUT DESK. 1st half 20th century. The rectangular figured top of matched figured walnut veneers with a wide marquetry border of scrolling vinery, centering a marquetry oval patera with radiating floral spray, above the frieze fitted with a central drawer flanked by banks of two drawers, all with marquetry panels of scrolling floral sprays, floral-filled urns, and ribbon bows, within crossbanded and string-inlaid borders, raised on square tapered legs, all decorated with pendant bellflower inlays. SIZE: 31-3/4″ h. x 51-1/2″ l. x 28″ d. CONDITION: Very good overall, with minor and minimal veneer chips; retains original finish with very nice color. 9-95174 (1,500-2,500)
