FREDERIC ROUX (French, 1805-1874) SHIP PORTRAIT OF THE “V. BOUISSEN”. Watercolor ship portrait of the French ship sailing left to right into Havre. Ship sails left to right with part sails up flying the French flag. Thirteen men on deck and several ships are seen off the stern. They approach the lighthouse at the mouth of the harbor which has a crowd looking on. Bottom legend on black background with captain and ship name. Signed lower right “Frederic Roux Au Havre 1847”. Housed in its original gesso decorated gilt frame. A round exposition label from Musee Cantini-Marseille 1855 No. 58”. Original backing is pen signed by the artist and dated. SIZE: 16-1/2” x 23”.
