*1916 DATED ARTILLERY LUGER BY DWM. SN 1083 B. Cal. 9 mm. 8″ Standard artillery barrel has SN and caliber markings on bottom, with military proof on right sight base. Rear tangent curve sight has fine adjustment for elevation, and front blade is adjustable for windage. Receiver has military proofs on right, “1916” on ring, and SN without suffix on left. Receiver with stock lug is marked “Gesichert” with safety in bottom position. SN is stamped on front. Toggle assembly has “DWM” on central link. “Geladen” is on extractor. All small parts have correct proofs, and numbers match. Blond walnut grips also have matching numbers. Nickel-plated magazine has walnut base plug, numbered “8979”. PROVENANCE: DAVID D. SOBEL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE COLLECTION. CONDITION: Excellent. Blue shows only the slightest of silvering at muzzles and other sharp edges. There is a small ding on right of receiver above proofs. There are some areas of slight oxidation on sides of frame. Sideplate shows 85-90% blue on trigger lever boss. Straw parts are slightly discolored with some pinprick pits. Grip screws show nearly all their blue. Grips are excellent with very little wear, and just one or two missing diamonds. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny.
