GEORGE III STYLE CARVED MAHOGANY KNEEHOLE DESK. Late 19th century. This late Victorian benchmade example made from old wood. The rectangular top with applied molding carved with flowerheads, above the conforming case fitted with two aligned drawers over valenced drawer above the kneehole fitted with cupboard door opening to two shelves, flanked by banks of three drawers, all raised on a carved ogee bracket base. The desk with paneled back and sides with trim molding. Drawers mounted with cast-brass hardware and carved with ribbon-tied floral garlands. Base carved with scrolling leaftips. SIZE: 30″ h. x 40″ w. x 19″ d. CONDITION: Desk in need of restoration, repolishing and re-carving of some areas of molding. 9-95369 (800-1,200)
