ENGLISH VICTORIAN CARVED WALNUT SECRETARY BOOKCASE. Last quarter 19th century. Made with both Gothic and Art Nouveau influences, the three-quarter spool gallery above a rectangular cabinet with hinged lid opening to an interior fitted with baise-lined writing surface and a configuration of open shelving above two open shelves, flanked by cupboard doors with tile inserts of exotic birds. Lid and doors with plated Gothic strapping, the whole raised on a stepped shoe-foot base. The whole carved with incised rondels, leaftips and other geometric designs. SIZE: 53″ h. x 40″ w. x 17″ d. CONDITION: Retains original surfaces, hardware and tiles, structurally very good, in need of repolishing. 9-95370 (800-1,200)
