ANTHONY THIEME (American, 1888-1954) BEARSKIN NECK FROM ROCKPORT HARBOR. Outstanding oil on board scene shows a view from the town dock looking across the inner harbor in Rockport towards Bearskin Neck and its multicolored buildings which served as artist studios. A green-hulled schooner is seen moored along with two small dinghies. The scene is reflected in the wavy water. Signed lower right “A Thieme”. A very strong image, well thought and executed with layers of paint and impasto. Housed in its original gold frame. First time offered, never has been out of the family that originally purchased it from the artist. SIZE: 16″ x 12″. PROVENANCE: Wellesley, MA Estate through family descent.
