FRANK HENRY SHAPLEIGH (American, 1842-1906) SOUTH OF THE ANDES. Outstanding oil on canvas landscape scene shows a large lake with snow packed mountain peaks leading to mountains and hills in background. The foreground having two sailboats on beach area with eight figures and church building beyond. A man leads a mule with pack baskets alongside a woman with basket on dirt road. Signed lower left “F.H. Shapleigh 1871″. Housed in its magnificent gesso decorated original frame with oil spot decoration and inner liner. SIZE: 18″ x 30”. CONDITION: Restored with some inpainting, very good. 9-24601 (1,000-1,500)
