RARE BERGMANN SIMPLEX SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 2093. Cal. 8 mm Bergmann. Blue finish with 2-3/4″ keyhole shape bbl with integral front sight and fixed rear sight at top rear of frame. This little pistol has a detachable staggered box magazine mounted in front of trigger guard, appears to be 8-shots. It has a swinging thumb safety on left side and checkered spur exposed hammer. Mounted with 1-pc hard rubber grip marked “Simplex” on both sides and has an oval butt cap integral with the frame. Trigger, hammer & safety are straw colored. While these little pistols are well made and reliable they never gained popularity in the U.S. or anywhere outside of Europe and were in production only between 1898-1905. Ammunition has not been commercially available in the U.S. for most of the ensuing time since. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Overall retains 93-95% strong orig blue with a few cleaned spots on the sides. Trigger, hammer & safety retain strong straw colors and grip is sound having turned chocolate.
