*RARE SWISS 1899/1906 LUGER “V” RANGE TEST GUN. SN V11. Cal. 30 Luger. Usual configuration with 4-3/4″ bbl & “DWM” scroll on toggle link. Bbl, frame & rear toggle are numbered “V11”. Smaller parts are numbered “22”. It has German cross & sunburst over chamber with full checkered walnut grips also numbered “22”. It has grip safety & orig Swiss magazine with metal insert in wood base. This pistol was among the first assembled in the new style in 1906 using a new 1906 style frame, receiver & bbl with small parts from the Model 1899. The twenty Swiss Lugers that were shipped in May 1899 for Swiss tests were numbered 10-29. This pistol was assembled from the small parts of #22. This is an ultra-rare Swiss test Luger of which less than ten are known. This pistol was a Bern Arsenal test piece & was obtained from the Bern Museum by Dr. Poppe and then from Dr. Poppe through Dennis Roth to the consignor,is the only specimen Mr. Smith has ever seen.. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching as noted above. Bbl, frame & toggle are all numbered “V11” with remainder of parts numbered “22” except firing pin which is unnumbered. Overall retains 97-98% strong orig blue with some minor nicks on the front grip strap & left side of the frame. Orig straw colors are about 90%. Grips are extremely fine showing very minor wear. Mechanics are crisp, bore is near mint. Magazine is equally new. 4-36097 JR178 & BS (20,000-25,000)
