EXTREMELY RARE BITTNER SELF-LOADING PISTOL.

EXTREMELY RARE BITTNER SELF-LOADING PISTOL. SN 1010.98. Cal. 7.7 mm. Extremely rare pistol, blue & color case hardened with 6″ rnd to oct bbl, tall pinched blade front sight and matted top flat on bbl. Rear sight is mounted to top of frame and is graduated to 150 meters. Pistol is extremely unusual with all metal color case hardened except bbl which is blue. Pistol functions from an open bolt configuration and is fed from a spring clip inserted from the top which, when empty, falls from bottom slot. With the clip inserted the bolt is in its normal position, retracted fully to the rear and is operated with a ring trigger which causes the bolt to travel forward stripping a cartridge from clip into the chamber. When ring trigger is fully retracted the firing trigger is allowed to pass through a slot in back of ring and is depressed by the operator’s finger through the ring causing the pistol to discharge. The forward part of the frame resembles a Bergmann Model 1896 No. 3 with metal frame and checkered wood panels. The grip is sharply angled, birdhead in shape with checkered walnut grip panels, flared at top and with a lanyard stud in the butt. Only about 500 of these rare pistols were produced in 1893. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus. Overall retains 96-97% strong orig factory finish with blue turning slightly plum and brilliant case colors on frame, somewhat faded on front & back straps.
