*FRANCOTTE SIDEPLATE DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. Fine pre-war shotgun imported by Von Lengerke & Detmold, US Agents, New York, and so marked on top of the bbls. Receiver and sideplates are beautifully engraved with extremely fine foliate arabesque patterns. It has side clips and modified Greener crossbolt with dbl triggers and ejectors. Trigger guard and foreend iron are matching engraved. Wood is moderately figured French walnut with a leather inlay cheekpiece, a 1-5/8” applied extension and a professionally repaired crack on the right side of the wrist. It has splinter forearm and is 14-1/2” over the extension. SN 86882. CONDITION: As noted. Good to very good. Bbls retain 80-85% thin original blue. Receiver 15-20% case colors and the sideplates traces of case colors in the sheltered areas. Stock, as noted, shows moderate to heavy wear with the leather cheekpiece dry and crackled and raised on the edges. Forearm is worn and dark. Brilliant shiny bores.
