DAVENPORT FOOTED COMPOTE AND A RUSSIAN CHARGER. Second and third quarter, 19th century. 1) A W. DAVENPORT & CO transfer-and-paint decorated footed shallow bowl with polychrome floral garlands and scrolling gilt cartouches centering a bucolic transfer decorated landscape. Marked in underglaze blue with an anchor below an arched banner. 2) A painted and gilt decorated charger made by the Russian Imperial Porcelain Factory. Painted with a central polychrome floral spray within a border of ivory reserves decorated with flowers and animals alternating with polychrome panels decorated overall with scrolling gilt vinery. The reverse with the Russian Imperial Porcelain Factory mark in underglaze blue. SIZE: 1) 2-3/4″ h x 10″ dia. 2) 12″ dia. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: 1) The compote very good overall. 2) The charger with base rim chip and with slight knife cuts in central floral design and with areas of wear to glaze in ivory ground. 9-23329 (300-500)
