D. B. WEBB (American, First half of the 20th Century) BALING COTTON. Pencil drawing on paper scene shows five black men baling and moving bales of cotton to an awaiting paddle wheel river boat in background. Piles of cotton are next to men and moss covered trees hang overhead. Signed lower right “D. B. Webb 36”. Housed in a gesso decorated gilt frame inside black shadowbox, missing front glass. SIGHT SIZE: 19-1/2” x 15-1/2”. IMAGE SIZE: 17-1/4” x 12-1/2”. CONDITION: Very good. Evidence of a glue line at edge of image where matte probably was laid down. Some gesso and gilt loss to frame. 9-97414 (400-600)
