IVAN FEDOROVICH CHOULTSE (Russian, 1877-1932) SHIMMERING TREES IN WINTER. Oil on canvas Housed in its original French style gilt fancy frame with minor loss, with name plaque Signed lower right “IW.F. Choultse” Choultse was born in Petrograd, Russia, and as testament to his talent became court painter to Czar Nicholas II. After the Russian Revolution the artist moved to Paris, where he continued to paint Russian landscapes, but added to this repertoire the snowcapped mountains and scenery of Switzerland. Best known for these beautifully delineated scenes, Choultse became a master at capturing the subtle nuances of light on snow. SIZE: 21-1/2″ x 25-3/4″. Overall: 29″ x 33″.
