*SMITH & WESSON MODEL 29-1 DA REVOLVER. Cal. 44 mag. SN S228302. Blued finish, 3-screw frame with 5” bbl, red ramp & white outline sights, target trigger & hammer with diamond checkered coke bottle medallion magnum grips. Accompanied by an original Smith & Wesson black leatherette covered purple satin lined case with tools. Also accompanies is a Smith & Wesson letter identifying this revolver as having been shipped Aug. 16, 1952 to Rex Firearms Co New York City, NY. It further states that this revolver was originally made with a 6-1/2” bbl and the order was for 5 such revolvers. The invoice was marked that the 5 revolvers were delivered to Mr. Harold Steins, Manager of the Smith & Wesson service dept. It goes on to say that the only reason they would have been shipped to him was if they were a rush order and were to be modified in some way and that it is Roy Jinks opinion that they were modified to 5” at that time. Also accompanying is another letter dated in 1993 which identifies this revolver as a model 29 not a 29-1. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains 93-95% strong bright original blue with light muzzle and edge wear and a light cylinder line. Sides of the trigger & hammer have been polished. Grips are extremely fine with crisp mechanics and bright shiny bore. Box is fine with a couple of scuffed corners and light nicks and scratches, the interior has been relined. 4-51767 JR478 (750-1,250)
