*RARE DWM 1923 STOEGER AMERICAN EAGLE LUGER. SN 8728. Cal. 30 Luger. Rare Stoeger Luger with 4-3/4″ bbl, American eagle over chamber, “A.F. STOEGER INC / NEW YORK” on right side of receiver with safety marked “SAFE” and extractor marked “LOADED”. It has “GERMANY” export stamp on bottom front of frame & right side of receiver behind Stoeger marking. There is a crown “N” proof on left side of receiver. Fitted with spectacular, full checkered. walnut grips. Magazine, bbl, hold open, firing pin & grips are unnumbered. A very rare model in near mint condition with less than 1,000 produced. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus, all numbered parts are matching. Overall retains about 99% strong orig blue with only faint muzzle edge wear & slight thinning on high point of sideplate, and retains about 98% orig straw colors. Grips are near mint with beautiful wood grain & sharp checkering. Grip screws retain about 98% fire blue. Aluminum base magazine is also near mint. Mechanics are crisp, pristine bore.
