RARE WILLIE ROSS MINIATURE DECOYS. Willie Ross (1878-1954), Chebeague Island, Maine. 2nd quarter 20th century. A group of eight handpainted and carved miniature decoys depicting primarily Mergansers, both drakes and hens; retaining original painted surfaces, now with excellent patina. These unsigned examples were carved as a gift to a direct family member and were subsequently passed down to the current owner, a descendant of the family through marriage. A letter of provenance written by the owner accompanies this lot. SIZE: 3 decoys ranging approx. 3-3/4″ l. to 4-3/4″ l. 5 decoys ranging approx. 2″ l. to 2-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: Family of the carver.
