FINE CLASSICAL REVIVAL CARVED MAHOGANY ROCKING CHAIR, IN THE MANNER OF R. J. HORNER, NEW YORK. Circa 1900. The laminated curved panel back with applied scrolling leaftips and vinery, joined to stiles surmounted by finely carved lion’s heads, above the acanthus-carved downcurved arms ending in scrolled grips, centering the shaped saddle seat, the side rails scalloped, the legs incurved, joined to molded rockers. SIZE: 42″ h. of back x 24″ overall w. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Overall very nice, professionally restored and refinished. 9-93486 (1,000-1,500)
