*UNIQUE SPRINGFIELD M1 GARAND. Cal. 30-06. SN 5000062. Absolute rarest serial number range that exists. All books, including Scott Doff’s, recognize this serial number block or recognize the bloxk while stating there are no known examples of army rifles from range 5000001 to 5000500, yet this rifle exists. 24” bbl dated “6-53”. Metal on rifle is in fine orig condition with exception of gas cylinder assembly which has been refinished. CONDITION: Receiver retains 95% of orig finish but does have inscription on right receiver leg dating it as “TE 11 64” but having no parts replaced or refinished. An added note: following the serial number there is an “A” electric penciled into receiver. Bolt is orig to gun & retains 85% orig finish. Op-rod is orig to gun & retains 95% orig finish. Rear sight assembly appears to be orig to gun as are all small internal parts. Trigger guard assembly is orig to gun & orig finish. Stock is off an earlier gun as it is cartouched “SA” over “JFC” which is a 1952 cartouche. Front gas cylinder assembly is refinished & retains an IHC sight as the ears are 13/16” in diameter. Buttstock is in good condition with expected dings on both sides, the most prominent which is on top of comb directly behind pistol grip. Hand guards are in good condition showing use with some dings & a small chip missing out of front hand guard at bottom. Bore is bright & shiny. 4-57842 (2,500-4,500)
